THE WORLD AWAITS

As beautiful as our campus is, we know it’s part of a much bigger mosaic. After living, learning, and working in another country and culture, Carthage students consistently return transformed. We know because they say so.

No. 6

nationally for participation in short-term study abroad

How long would you like to study abroad? Carthage offers multiple options, from a few weeks to a year. Anyone can do it, regardless of major.

Led by professors, our J-Term study tours are incredibly popular. Dive in — in some cases, literally — to explore a topic you’ve only read about. Carthage sends more students on that kind of short-term study abroad than all but four schools in the country. Scholarships are available.

Or immerse yourself more deeply in a culture. All modern language majors study abroad for an extended period, but they’re not the only ones. In recent years, our students have spent a semester (or more) on every continent except Antarctica.

Carthage has become a pipeline to major international fellowships. Since 2008, the Fulbright Program has selected dozens of our students to teach English or conduct research in other parts of the world.

Natalie Vitek I had the opportunity to travel to Honduras with Professor Dan Miller and Professor Paul Martino for J-Term. The best part of this trip was the shark dive, where we got to scuba with Caribbean reef sharks underwater!
